Special Operations Trailer
Olcott Fire Rescue (OFR), located near the shores of Lake Ontario, needed a custom designed trailer to support their underwater rescue equipment - they turned to the pro's at Gorman Enterprises to make it happen.
Tom Lewis of Gorman worked closely with OFR to take their ideas and make them a reality. The ideal trailer needed to house their equipment and support on-site rescue efforts. It had to accommodate highly specialized equipoment, yet be extremely functional, allowing OFR to deploy quickly, in a safe and efficient manner.
The entire project took four weeks to complete from concept to delivery.
The process began with a design & goal discussion meeting between OFR and Gorman. The 24' enclosed trailer was an empty shell at the outset. The Gorman team used computer assisted drawing programs to develop the blueprint design. From there they custom designed the carpentry and meal fabrication to sub-divide the trailer and develop shelving and storage compartments to house the equipment safely and securely.
All along the way OFR representatives were involved in design and process reviews to make sure the final design was perfect. This unique design includes a command center desk & seating, custom designed shelving for specialized equipment including quick release tank brackets, garment closet and cupboards, and a 5hp generator.
The completed trailer is a rugged, ergonomically built, rescue command center and transport vehicle that will aid EMT personnel to protect and save lives along the shores of Lake Ontario.
