Gorman Enterprises had it’s beginnings back in 1981 when Bill Gorman, a mechanic and collision tech by trade, and two additional partners started WNY Bus Parts, Inc. The company had one employee and distributed bus parts throughout Central and Western New York for the major bus equipment manufacturers in the school bus industry. The company was located in Buffalo, NY and occupied a 300 sq. ft. office and utilized and additional 16 ft. trailer for storage. In 1983, Bill became sole owner and in 1985 began to expand his product line with additions such as re-manufactured engines and related product. With these additions, Bill expanded his operations to a 900 sq. ft. office/building and had 4 full time and 1 part time employee. As a young entrepreneur, Bill prided himself with providing quality products and level of service meeting or exceeding the customer’s expectations. His goal was to make the customer’s satisfaction his #1 Priority. This simple business philosophy allowed the company to establish a good reputation within the industry, which opened the doors for additional product lines and service offerings to come his way. In 1991, the d/b/a of Gorman Bus Sales was created with the addition of the Carpenter School Bus distributorship for Western and Central New York. With this addition, Bill expanded his operation to 3,000 sq. ft. staffed by 11 employees. Bill continued to grow within the bus industry with additional distributorships for Diamond Coach and Braun Commercial Vans in 1992, and Champion Bus in 1994. Rounding out the bus product offering, the company added Corbeil Mini School Buses in 1994. With all this rapid growth Bill Gorman needed additional space, so in 1995 Bill acquired 13 acres of land in Elma, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, NY and built a state of the art 18,000 sq. ft service facility (4 service lanes, parts room and office space), which later was expanded to 38,000 sq. ft. in Phase II, including 20,000 sq. ft. of additional service bays with a 63’ paint booth and computerized paint mixing room. Located right off the Rte. 400 East Aurora Expressway, minutes away from NYS 90 Thruway, Gorman Bus Sales is easy to find and easily accessible from major thoroughfares. While the company’s main stay is still school buses, with the new millennium Gorman Enterprises was formed which allows the company to continue to diversify and expand in other related areas utilizing its core competencies, that of which being mechanical fleet maintenance, paint & collision repair, frame straightening, and large vehicle (bus, truck) sales and service. The company has grown substantially in the commercial bus market offering various size buses, limousines and vans from manufacturers such as Diamond Coach, Elkhart Coach, Braun and Krystal. 2002 marked the successful launched of our Cargo Trailers, Truck Equipment and Snow Plow product lines representing the leading manufacturers in their respective industries such as Big Tex and United Trailers, Danzer Morrison, Omaha Standard and Stahl Service Bodies, Air Flo and Beau-Roc Dump Bodies, US Truck Body, Meyer, Diamond, Hiniker, Henke and Swenson Snow Plows and Spreaders, Maxon and Eagle Lifts, Dell Hydraulics, Weatherguard, Truck Lite and Roll-Rite Tarps to name a few.
